Our Mission
Our mission is simple: give people the information and tools to understand their move and make their own decisions.
Have a Good Move provides straightforward information, practical tools, and independent research designed around the questions consumers actually face during a move.
We help you understand your move, compare your options, ask better questions, and know what you’re agreeing to before you commit.
Research first. Connect when you’re ready.
We’re not here to tell you who to hire. We don’t choose your mover. We give you the information and tools to evaluate your options for yourself.
The consumer’s way to move.
Why I Started Have a Good Move
After months of research, building, testing, and learning from the moving industry, Have a Good Move is here.
HGM was built around a simple idea: people planning a move should have a place to do their homework before handing over their information or choosing a moving company.
We’re still building, still researching, and still improving. But everything starts with the same goal: give consumers better information, useful tools, and a clearer way to navigate their move.
Al, Founder of Have a Good Move
Hi, I’m Al, founder of Have a Good Move. HGM grew out of several years of hands-on experience across moving sales, operations, dispatch, pricing, and move planning. That work meant helping customers prepare, reviewing inventories, working through space requirements and estimates, and understanding how scheduling and coordination affect a move.
Working across those parts of the business showed me how much one detail can affect everything that follows. An incomplete inventory can change the space needed. Access at pickup or delivery can affect the work involved. A delivery window can mean something very different from a promised delivery date. Consumers deserve to understand those details before they commit.
Most people don’t move very often. They’re suddenly trying to understand estimates, cubic feet, inventory lists, brokers versus carriers, deposits, delivery windows, and a bunch of terminology they may have never heard before. At the same time, they’re trying to figure out which companies they can trust.
That puts consumers at a pretty big disadvantage.
I’ve also seen situations where problems could have been avoided if someone simply knew what questions to ask before booking. Sometimes it’s a bad company. Sometimes it’s a misunderstanding about how an estimate works. And sometimes a customer just wasn’t given enough information to understand what they were agreeing to.
That’s why I created Have a Good Move.
I wanted to build something I wish more people had before they started calling moving companies: a place where you can slow down, learn how the process actually works, research companies, compare your options, and get a better idea of what your move may involve before making a decision.
HGM isn’t here to tell you which company you have to use. The goal is to give you the information and tools to make that decision for yourself.
Moving is stressful enough. Finding reliable information about it shouldn’t be.
Educate. Compare. Move smarter.
A note from the founder
After months of research, planning, and building, I’m proud to finally introduce Have a Good Move.
I also want to be upfront about something: we’re still building it.
There are already tools and resources here that I believe can genuinely help people, and there’s still a lot more I want HGM to be able to do. As people start using it, I want to learn what actually helps, what doesn’t, and what we can do better.
I’ve spent years in the moving industry, and my experience has gone well beyond simply selling moves. I’ve worked with consumers, estimates, inventories, pricing, move sizes, paperwork, logistics, and the day-to-day problems that come up before a move ever gets on a truck.
Over the years, I started seeing the same problems from different sides of the process. Consumers are often trying to compare estimates that don’t look anything alike. They may not know which details actually matter, what questions they should be asking, or how something agreed to during an estimate can affect what happens later.
I also saw something else: there’s a huge amount of knowledge inside the moving industry that the average person has no reason to know until the day they suddenly need it.
That’s a big part of why I built HGM.
I don’t want HGM to make decisions for you. We know how the moving industry works from the inside. HGM is being built from the outside in, starting with what the consumer needs and working back toward the industry. That means helping you understand your move, research your options, compare what you’re being offered, know what questions to ask, and understand what you’re agreeing to before you commit.
And we’re going to keep building from there.
If we do this right, HGM becomes something genuinely useful for people going through a move.
That’s what I’m building toward.
Al
