Corrections Policy
Have a Good Move (HGM) publishes moving-company profiles, federal-record information, research notes, and consumer-education content.
HGM aims to keep factual information accurate and current. Consumers, moving companies, authorized company representatives, and other affected parties may request a correction when they believe HGM has published a factual error.
A correction request does not automatically change or remove content. HGM reviews the request against the underlying evidence and updates the page when the evidence supports a change.
What this policy covers
Use the corrections process for factual issues such as:
- company legal name;
- DBA or trade name;
- USDOT, MC, or FF identifiers;
- carrier, broker, freight-forwarder, agent, or other operating-role descriptions;
- federal authority or registration status;
- company location or contact information;
- attribution of a review, complaint, or research finding to the wrong company;
- factual statements in an HGM mover profile;
- outdated information that can be verified from a reliable source.
For a correction to a specific mover profile, use the Request a correction link on that profile when available.

What to include
Please identify:
- the HGM page or mover profile;
- the specific statement, field, or section you believe is incorrect;
- the correction you are requesting;
- why you believe the current information is wrong;
- any supporting source or documentation you want HGM to review.
Supporting documentation is helpful but is not always required to submit a request.
Do not send unredacted Social Security numbers, bank-account information, payment-card numbers, driver-license numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive personal information.
How HGM reviews corrections
HGM may review:
- current federal or state records;
- company documents;
- official filings;
- source material already used for the profile;
- updated public records;
- documentation supplied with the correction request;
- other evidence relevant to the disputed statement.
HGM may contact the person or company submitting the request for clarification or additional documentation.
HGM may also seek information from another source when needed to resolve conflicting evidence.
Correction submissions are not published automatically.
What HGM may do
After review, HGM may:
- correct a factual error;
- update outdated information;
- clarify wording;
- add context where reliable sources conflict;
- correct the company or legal entity to which information was attributed;
- add a date or source note to make the record clearer;
- leave accurate information unchanged;
- refer a review or complaint dispute to HGM’s separate dispute process.
A correction does not necessarily require deletion of the entire section or profile.
Where the underlying evidence is conflicting or incomplete, HGM may explain the uncertainty rather than present one side as established fact.
Disagreement is not the same as a factual error
A company or consumer may disagree with:
- a review;
- a complaint;
- a quoted source;
- an HGM explanation;
- the significance of an accurate public record.
Disagreement alone does not require HGM to remove accurate information.
If the issue concerns whether a consumer review, complaint, response, or similar submission should remain published under HGM policy, use the separate Complaint & Review Dispute Process.

Federal records and authority information
HGM may use federal registration and authority records to explain who a company is and what operating authority appears in the record.
A company may have:
- more than one registration;
- more than one authority type;
- a DBA different from its legal name;
- related companies with separate federal records;
- authority that changes over time.
When a correction request concerns federal identity or authority, HGM reviews the relevant record and the date of that record.
If newer federal information changes a previously accurate statement, HGM may update the page rather than characterize the earlier statement as an error.
Reviews and consumer-experience information
HGM keeps company identity and attribution separate when more than one business is involved in a move.
For example:
- broker-side issues should not automatically be attributed to the carrier;
- carrier handling and delivery issues should not automatically be attributed to the broker;
- van-line and local-agent experiences should be distinguished when the evidence allows;
- franchise-location reviews should not automatically be treated as national-brand reviews.
If a correction request shows that HGM attributed an experience to the wrong company, location, or operating role, HGM may correct the attribution.
Questions about whether an otherwise legitimate review should be removed are handled under the separate dispute process.
Company responses
Where appropriate, HGM may allow or publish a company response, clarification, or source-backed explanation.
A company response does not automatically replace HGM’s independent research or consumer-experience reporting.
HGM may label company-provided information so readers can distinguish it from federal records, third-party sources, and HGM analysis.
Commercial relationships do not control corrections
Advertising, profile participation, business relationships, lead-generation arrangements, or other commercial relationships do not entitle a company to favorable treatment.
A company cannot pay HGM to:
- remove accurate unfavorable information;
- change federal-record facts;
- suppress legitimate review evidence;
- receive different correction standards.
The same factual-correction standards apply whether or not HGM has a business relationship with the company.
Material corrections
When a correction materially changes how a consumer could understand a company’s:
- identity;
- operating role;
- federal authority;
- review attribution;
- or another important factual point,
HGM may update the profile wording, source note, or review date so the change is clear.
HGM does not promise a public change log for every minor edit.
Timing
HGM reviews correction requests as resources allow.
Some requests can be resolved quickly from a clear public record. Others may require additional research, documentation, or source reconciliation.
Submitting a correction does not guarantee a particular outcome or response time.
