How HGM Works

Research first. Connect when you’re ready.

Understand who you’re dealing with and what you’re agreeing to, at your own pace.

1. Research

Use MoverView to look up company identity and federal records, or read mover profiles. A carrier transports belongings; a broker arranges transportation with a carrier. Check which company is named on your paperwork. A government registration is not an endorsement.

2. Plan

The Moving Calculator helps answer “How big is my move?” Build My Move helps answer “What exactly am I moving?” Results are planning estimates, not guaranteed measurements or moving prices. You can plan without providing contact information.

3. Compare

Compare your estimates against the same inventory. Look beyond the headline price: packing, storage, stairs, long carries, payment terms, and exclusions can change the picture.

4. Decide

Use the findings to ask each company specific questions. Get the inventory, included services, pricing method, and possible extra charges in writing. HGM provides information; you decide whether to hire a mover.

5. Request connections

HGM can help connect you with up to three participating interstate movers with your separate permission. Accepting companies are identified by email and in your saved move file. Availability, responses, and contact are not guaranteed. A connection is not an endorsement or recommendation. You can use our research tools without requesting contact.

What HGM does and does not do

HGM provides consumer information and planning tools. We do not transport your belongings, choose or book a mover for you, or collect payments owed to movers. You choose, contract with, and pay the mover directly.
