AmeriSafe VanLines: Full HGM research

Research reviewed October 8, 2026. Records and terms can change.

Federal records, operating arrangements, consumer accounts and source limitations behind the short company profile.

Research context and what to verify

Match your documents to the federal entity and identify the company performing the move. Selected accounts describe experiences, not how often an outcome occurs.

Federal identity and operating structure

The federal record identifies AMS Moving Inc., DBA AmeriSafe VanLines, USDOT 3341650, MC 1066696. It displays both carrier and broker authority for household goods and other property.

AmeriSafe’s current carrier page says a move may use its own equipment or another authorized carrier. Therefore, broker-only wording is incorrect, while dual authority alone does not prove its employees performed a reviewed job. safer.fmcsa.dot.gov

The former `amerisafemoving.com` address redirects to `amerisafevanlines.com`. ConsumerAffairs retains an older “nationwide-moving-services” URL but currently identifies AmeriSafe and the matching federal identifiers.

Federal recheck: October 8, 2026. The retrieved SAFER snapshot displays data as of October 6, 2026, active USDOT status and no out-of-service date. Displayed authority includes household-goods and other-property carriage and brokerage. Authority establishes permitted roles, not who performed a particular reviewed move. Verify current records before booking.

Review evidence and dated accounts

Conservative usable estimate: approximately 10–11 apparently distinct accounts: eight selected ConsumerAffairs narratives, two BBB complaint threads and one detailed Reddit account.

Exact-dated platform range: August 20–September 24, 2026. The retained Reddit post carries July 15 in its title; retrieval exposed a relative publication age, not a dependable exact posting date.

  • ConsumerAffairs: Nanci, September 10/update September 15; Lauren, September 14; Alan, September 17; Brooke, September 19; Olivia and Cole, September 22; Karen, September 23; Sebastian, September 24
  • BBB: August 20 role-disclosure complaint; August 25 Apex Rental Moving complaint
  • Reddit: Oklahoma–Washington account explicitly identifies USDOT 3341650

The sample mixes booking, cancellation, support and completed-service experiences; it is not eleven completed interstate moves. consumeraffairs.com

Duplicates and screening:

  • Counted original reviews and subsequent updates once.
  • Screened the separate “current nightmare” narrative appearing in multiple Reddit communities; did not count its copies as independent evidence.
  • Excluded generic short praise and unrelated companies’ experiences in comment threads.
  • No additional obvious match was established; redacted identities limit certainty.

Resolution updates: Lauren reports a full refund. Nanci reports responsive intervention and rescheduling, not a completed replacement move. The Apex-related BBB customer accepts the resolution on September 8. A changed star rating alone does not establish a paid or completed settlement.

Attribution: Preserve Apex Rental Moving. Another BBB thread inconsistently names “Pack and Ship” and “Pack and Load”; retain that discrepancy rather than merging them.

Reported favorable experiences

  • Helpful sales and customer-support representatives.
  • Assistance obtaining carrier updates or addressing a dispute.
  • Positive crew/handling accounts, with the employer not consistently established. consumeraffairs.com

Reported concerns and attribution

  • Quote changes and additional payment demands.
  • Expectations about AmeriSafe versus another performing carrier.
  • Pickup/delivery timing and inconsistent updates.
  • Reported damage and difficulty following through on a remedy. reddit.com

The evidence supports qualified concerns, not typical price-increase amounts or a claim that every move is brokered.

Refund terms and policy context

The refund page, marked updated June 30, 2026, describes written cancellation within 72 hours after signing the bill of lading, later cancellation credit and approved refunds processed by the next billing cycle. It expressly says signed documents control conflicts. These are company-published terms, not a guarantee of an individual refund outcome.

The carrier page describes AmeriSafe’s operating arrangements; it does not independently establish every partner’s quality. Website pricing promises are company representations, not verified transaction outcomes.

Evidence limitations and resolution context

The identity, dual authority and company disclosure of both operating models are well supported. Qualified pricing, timing, support and carrier-role concerns come from selected accounts, not a representative sample. The proportion of directly performed moves, crew employment and typical claims outcomes remain unverified.

An improved review rating is not proof that every issue was resolved. A full refund, intervention/rescheduling and customer acceptance are different outcomes. No conclusion that all moves are brokered, all quotes are fixed or all carriers provide the same quality is supported. AmeriSafe and New Start remain separate profiles and registrations.

Review methodology

Review evidence was researched October 7, 2026; federal snapshots were independently rechecked October 8 and still displayed October 6 data. Approximate sample estimates count selected substantive narratives inspected, not platform totals or independently authenticated transactions. Repeated excerpts, identifiable cross-posts and updates to the same account counted once. Redacted identities prevent complete duplicate matching. Allegations and company responses remain separately attributed. No rating, complaint rate or frequency estimate was calculated. Sources may change.

Sources and transparency

This is independent consumer information, not a mover endorsement, recommendation or rating. Reviewer accounts are not verified events. Company statements, federal records and consumer accounts serve different evidentiary purposes. Use the dated source links below and HGM’s correction process to report an error.
