Federal records, operating arrangements, consumer accounts and source limitations behind the short company profile.
Research context and what to verify
Match your documents to the company or service provider responsible for each stage. Selected accounts describe experiences, not how often an outcome occurs.
Federal identity and operating structure
Coastal Moving Services LLC — USDOT 4090919; MC 1558401. The live FMCSA snapshot inspected on October 8 displayed information dated October 6, 2026: active broker, authorized for household-goods brokerage. The inspected record does not establish household-goods carrier authority.
The search-accessible September 3 snapshot independently matched the legal identity and broker role. The October 6 date comes from the directly inspected live record, not that older cached result. safer.fmcsa.dot.gov
Coastal arranges moves performed by carriers. Its sales, estimates, disclosures, coordination and refund conduct can properly be evaluated separately from carrier loading, hauling, delivery and claims.
Federal recheck on October 8, 2026 retrieved the SAFER snapshot dated October 6, 2026. Its listed role and identifiers match the dated research above. Active USDOT status is not a government recommendation or a promise about service. Verify current authority and insurance directly with FMCSA before booking.
Review evidence and dated accounts
Retained sample: Approximately 13 account groups: five substantive BBB reviews, five Trustpilot accounts and three BBB complaint threads.
Publication range: September 17–October 4, 2026, with experiences beginning earlier and complaint updates retained.
Dated anchors:
- BBB: Mathew, September 30, and Haylee, September 29, describe planning/communication. Evan and Dylan, September 30, and Andrew, September 29, describe crew/service work, which is not established as work by Coastal employees. Better Business Bureau
- Trustpilot: Chad, October 3, describes cancellation and vehicle-price concerns; Mehdi, with a September 27 experience date, describes an estimate increase. Diane and Mardochee, October 3, and Percy, October 4, describe favorable service. Diane expressly identifies Rapid Express Moving and Storage, preserving carrier attribution. trustpilot.com
- BBB: a September 17 case was accepted as satisfactory on September 23. A September 20 case, ID 25298018, includes a September 23 update confirming delivery on September 22 while alleging missing/damaged belongings; delivery did not resolve the entire dispute. A September 23 cancellation case remained contested in later September responses. Better Business Bureau
Duplicate handling: Complaint responses were retained within their original case. Obvious cross-posted material and brief, nonsubstantive endorsements were not added. No obvious duplicate was identified among these selected groups; independent authorship cannot be verified.
Resolution: Preserve the accepted September 17 case. Do not equate a refund offer with receipt, or shipment delivery with settlement of subsequent loss/damage allegations.
Reported favorable experiences
- Helpful planning and communication.
- Careful or efficient servicing crews on arranged moves.
Physical-service praise must remain attributed to the arranged move or identified carrier—not automatically to Coastal employees.
Reported concerns and attribution
- Estimate increases and additional charges.
- Delivery expectations and shipment-update difficulties.
- Deposit, cancellation and refund disputes.
Damage/loss appears in carrier-related allegations, but this sample does not justify a standalone claim about Coastal’s own physical handling.
Booking, service and policy context
- Verify the final inventory: Ask for a documented walkthrough and an itemized estimate, including packing, shipment volume and access charges. Confirm what can change during the pre-move review or carrier’s pickup assessment.
- Identify the carrier: Get its legal name and USDOT number, plus separate contacts for Coastal coordination and carrier dispatch.
- Clarify delivery terms: Ask when the delivery window starts, whether it uses business or calendar days, and whether a quoted arrival day is guaranteed.
- Read the refund terms before paying: Confirm the required cancellation method, deadline, deductions and short-notice exceptions in your signed agreement. Keep proof of submission.
The inspected company policy describes a 72-hour cancellation provision, a 10% credit-card merchant-fee deduction and an exception for bookings within five days of the first available pickup date. Those are company-published terms, not a universal legal refund entitlement. Coastal Moving Services
Evidence limitations and resolution updates
The selected evidence comprises approximately 13 account groups, not a platform total or a national complaint rate. Physical-service accounts are not proof of Coastal-employed crews. Diane identifies Rapid Express Moving and Storage; that attribution is retained. Company-hosted testimonials are selected first-party material and are not an additional independent sample. Independent authorship of every account cannot be verified.
The September 17 complaint was accepted as satisfactory September 23. Delivery on September 22 in case 25298018 did not settle the later missing/damaged-belongings allegations. A refund offer is not proof of receipt. The September 23 cancellation case remained contested. The company’s published cancellation policy is not a universal legal refund entitlement; reconcile it with the signed agreement. Incomplete contact placeholders from that page are not reproduced here.
Review methodology
Research reviewed October 8, 2026. The samples are conservative counts of retained, substantive public account groups, not platform totals or representative surveys. A complaint and its responses count as one case. Obvious duplicates, syndicated copies, irrelevant entities and insufficiently detailed accounts are excluded. Customer statements remain allegations unless independently verified; a business response is its account of events. Accepted resolutions do not establish that every claim was paid or every disputed fact settled. No national ratings or unsupported frequency estimates are calculated. Sources and federal records can change.
Additional operating and service context
As a broker, Coastal may arrange for a separate carrier to perform the physical move. Consumers should confirm the assigned carrier and compare its paperwork with the broker estimate.
Confirm availability and inclusions for these service categories in your agreement; local-agent or separately arranged work is not necessarily performed by the national company.
- Long-distance move coordination
- Residential moving coordination
- Packing-service coordination
- Storage coordination

- Assigned carrier name and USDOT number
