Safe Ship Moving Services: Full HGM research

Research reviewed October 7, 2026. Records and terms can change.

Federal records, operating arrangements, consumer evidence and source limitations behind HGM’s overview. Use the short company profile for the key booking considerations.

Research context and what to verify

Use the dated federal record and your own documents to identify each company’s role. Consumer accounts describe reported experiences, not how often an outcome occurs.

Federal identity and authority

Vellar Holdings LLC, DBA Safe Ship Moving Services, is the registration for USDOT 3475743 / MC-1139083. HGM independently checked SAFER and the live FMCSA MOTUS authority record on October 7, 2026.

SAFER’s snapshot, with data dated October 6, 2026, identifies an active USDOT account and displays Broker of Property (Except Household Goods). Its cargo selection is not itself an operating-authority grant.

The newer MOTUS record for Vellar’s own MC-1139083 shows Broker of Household Goods as Active. Its status history contains an Active / Reinstated entry dated October 7, 2026 and an earlier grant dated September 14, 2020. The MOTUS account also shows Broker of Property (Except Household Goods) as Active. The dated SAFER snapshot does not display the household-goods category shown in MOTUS.

This newer authority record supports describing Vellar as an active household-goods broker as checked October 7. The difference between the dated displays does not establish why they differ, the reason for reinstatement, or a finding about an individual transaction. Safe Ship’s website describes arranging household-goods transportation through a separate carrier. Verify current authority and the legal entity on your agreement before booking. Direct links to both federal records appear below.

Separate Safe Ship registration

Safe Ship Moving Services LLC, DBA Rapid Relocation, USDOT 3570396 / MC-1202480, is separate from Vellar Holdings LLC. HGM’s October 6 review recorded active household-goods broker authority for that separate registration; that status is historical context, not a new verification in this update.

A Florida filing in the prior research identifies Vellar as an authorized manager of the separate LLC. This does not establish that the entities are the same, an ownership percentage, successor status, or how individual agreements are allocated. No authority or customer experience is transferred between registrations.

Review evidence and dated accounts

Conservative working sample: Approximately 8–10 usable accounts, including brand-level experiences whose contracting entity could not be confirmed individually.

Usable dates: September–October 2026 publications/experience fields; some complaint narratives describe moves beginning in July or August.

Selected retained anchors:

  • Trustpilot — Judy Henslee — October 7, 2026 — Flexibility, refund after smaller load; separate contractor praised
  • Trustpilot — Garette Ozborn — October 6, 2026 — Fast, friendly loading attributed to SOS Moving
  • Trustpilot — Cindy Adams — October 6, 2026 — Price-increase concern despite five-star rating
  • Trustpilot — Corey Wright — Recent October posting; precise experience date not retained — Sales contact, timing, staffing and handling concerns
  • BBB — Kristina A — October 5, 2026 — Customer-service and moving-team praise
  • BBB — Miguel F — October 2, 2026 — Communication and handling praise
  • BBB complaint — September 26, 2026 — Carrier-attributed charges, timing and missing items
  • BBB complaint — September 23, 2026 — Cancellation/refund dispute
  • BBB complaint — September 18, 2026 — Carrier handling, storage and missing-property allegations

The favorable physical-work accounts do not establish that the movers were Vellar employees. Ratings were not substituted for narrative content. trustpilot.com

Resolution updates: The September 26 complainant accepted the response on September 30. The September 23 complainant reported a full credit-card refund on September 30. These outcomes must accompany those complaints; neither should be presented as an unresolved refund refusal. Better Business Bureau

Duplicate handling:

  • Trustpilot’s merged profiles and country-domain copies were treated as one source.
  • Featured excerpts were not counted again when the underlying review appeared.
  • Similar names or crew references across BBB and Trustpilot were not assumed to establish separate moves.
  • No complete cross-platform deduplication or Vellar-only customer count is claimed.

Attribution, resolutions and evidence limits

BBB associates the inspected profile with Vellar and its exact identifiers, but individual accounts do not independently establish each contracting entity. Trustpilot is a merged brand-level profile, not a Vellar-only corpus. No platform-wide score or Vellar-only customer count is inferred.

Helpful communication and flexibility concern coordination; favorable loading or handling reports may describe the separate servicing company. The SOS Moving reference is reviewer-reported attribution, not an independently verified contractual relationship. Physical-work accounts do not establish that crews were Vellar employees. Narrative content controls even where a star rating appears favorable.

The September 26 BBB complainant accepted the response September 30. The September 23 complainant reported a full credit-card refund September 30. These accounts are not presented as unresolved refund refusals. An accepted response does not independently verify every disputed event or establish a universal refund policy.

BBB’s notice about alleged requests to remove reviews or complaint text is not used as an overview finding or as an established fact about misconduct. No theft, fraud, deliberate misrepresentation or legal violation is inferred.

Review methodology

HGM reviewed the October 7, 2026 public-source evidence described below as a targeted qualitative sample, not a complete platform export or representative customer survey. Sample estimates describe usable narratives inspected, not platform totals or independently verified customers. Reviews and complaints are accounts or allegations, not verified events or regulatory findings. Contracts, invoices, photographs and claimed losses were not independently authenticated.

Updated posts, business replies, featured excerpts and repeated snippets count as one account. Cross-platform uniqueness remains uncertain when identifying details are missing. Source pages and ordering can change. Publication, experience and complaint-filing dates are distinguished where available. No national rating, pooled satisfaction rate, complaint rate or frequency claim is inferred.

Operational context and terms

The following operational material is retained from HGM’s October 6 profile. It has not been independently reverified for this review update unless stated in the federal section above. Terms may change; use the written agreement for your move.

How Safe Ship works

Safe Ship describes itself as a broker rather than the motor carrier that physically transports a customer’s belongings.

Its published materials separate broker-side responsibilities from the transportation performed by an assigned carrier. Safe Ship describes its role as including carrier matching, coordination, screening and communication support. The assigned motor carrier performs the physical transportation and may perform loading, packing when selected, unloading and delivery.

That means more than one company may be involved in the same move.

The broker-side experience can include:

  • sales and estimate communication;
  • deposit and cancellation terms;
  • carrier assignment;
  • scheduling and coordination.

The carrier-side experience can include:

  • pickup;
  • loading and packing;
  • transportation;
  • delivery;
  • physical handling;
  • loss or damage claims.

Keep those roles separate when reading paperwork or consumer reviews.

Services Safe Ship advertises

Safe Ship markets coordination for services including:

  • interstate and long-distance moving;
  • residential and cross-country relocation;
  • corporate and office moves;
  • military moves;
  • packing services;
  • storage coordination;
  • auto transportation;
  • full-service and specialty relocations.

The services actually included in a move depend on the written estimate and the assigned carrier. Confirm which company is responsible for each part of the move.

Earlier review context

The following account themes and limitations were retained from HGM’s October 6 profile. The dated October 7 evidence above updates that earlier assessment; neither supports frequency conclusions.

HGM recovered prior review-platform research matched to the Safe Ship consumer brand from BBB, Trustpilot and ConsumerAffairs. The source identities do not all map cleanly to one federal registration, so HGM keeps the review evidence separate from the federal-record findings above.

In review-platform material that HGM could match to the Safe Ship consumer brand, some consumers reported differences between initial estimates and final charges, communication or delivery-timing concerns, and claims-related issues.

Other review material included praise for service coordination and for careful or efficient movers.

Because Safe Ship states that assigned motor carriers perform the physical move, HGM does not automatically attribute crew performance, packing, loading, transportation, delivery condition, loss or damage to Safe Ship itself. Those experiences may concern the assigned carrier unless the review and moving documents identify who performed the work.

The strongest broker-side topics in the recovered material involve estimates and charges, communication, coordination and expectations about the broker/carrier relationship. Physical-service praise or complaints require carrier-side attribution.

HGM is intentionally not publishing a composite rating or treating BBB’s aggregate metrics as belonging to one Safe Ship federal registration. The BBB profile reviewed by HGM combines Safe Ship Moving Services LLC and Vellar Holdings LLC identity information while displaying Vellar’s DOT/MC record, so its data are cluster-level rather than record-specific.

Review evidence last recovered from the October 3, 2026 research packet. The recovered packet did not preserve a coded individual-review sample size sufficient for HGM to call any theme “recurring,” “common,” or “typical.”

What to check before booking

For Safe Ship specifically, confirm:

  1. Which legal entity is on the estimate? Compare the company name, USDOT number and MC number with the federal record.
  2. Which registration is being used for the transaction? Do not assume the Safe Ship brand name alone answers that question.
  3. Who is the assigned carrier? Once selected, get the carrier’s legal name and USDOT number.
  4. Does the carrier match at pickup? Compare the company arriving with the carrier identified in your paperwork.
  5. Who receives the deposit? Confirm the payee and keep the receipt.
  6. What are the cancellation/refund terms? Read the actual written policy that applies to your transaction.
  7. What goods and services are included? Confirm the inventory, packing, storage, access services and any other requested work before loading.

Estimate, deposit and paperwork notes

Safe Ship is a broker, so the broker’s estimate and the assigned carrier’s paperwork both matter.

Before loading, confirm:

  • whether the written estimate is binding or non-binding;
  • the goods and services listed;
  • any new estimate issued before loading if the shipment changes;
  • the carrier named in the Bill of Lading;
  • deposit and cancellation terms;
  • valuation selection and claims information.

Common questions

Is Safe Ship Moving Services a carrier?

Safe Ship presents itself as a moving broker. Its materials state that an assigned motor carrier performs the physical transportation.

Which Safe Ship federal record should I check?

Check the exact legal name, USDOT number and MC number printed on your own estimate and moving documents. HGM found more than one related Safe Ship federal record, and the public records reviewed do not establish how every individual transaction is allocated between them.

Does an active USDOT account mean household-goods broker authority is active?

No. USDOT account status and operating-authority status are separate. Check the specific authority type and its current status.

Why does HGM show a related Rapid Relocation record?

Safe Ship Moving Services LLC d/b/a Rapid Relocation, USDOT 3570396 / MC-1202480, is a separate legal entity and federal registration that showed active household-goods broker authority in HGM’s October 6 review; its status was not reverified for this update. A Florida filing also documented a management relationship with Vellar Holdings LLC. HGM keeps the records separate rather than merging them.

If Safe Ship books my move, who physically moves my belongings?

Safe Ship says the assigned motor carrier performs the physical move. Confirm that carrier’s identity and federal record once the assignment is made.
